It refers from person to person and factors such as age and health can be counted in. Ideally, your prescription should not be more than two years old. Please refer to the table below that contains information on how often you should get your eyes tested:

How often should you get an eye exam?

Under 7 years old Every six months
7 to 16 years old Every year
16 to 59 years old Every two years
60 to 69 years old Usually every two years, but sometimes every year
Over 70 years old Every year

How often should you get an eye exam

If you are diabetic Every year
If you or a member of your family has glaucoma Every year

An eye exam is one of the simplest appointments to make and the process does not take more than 15 minutes. So, we highly recommend that if your prescription is more than 2 years old, then you must visit your optician to get a new one unless you are extremely confident that your prescription has not changed.
